About

Annet van Belkom (1991) is a self-taught artist from Amsterdam. Her work is characterized by a figurative, dreamy style, where intuitive creation takes center stage. "While painting, all distractions fade away, and I unconsciously begin to organize my often busy thoughts. The contrast between my inner world and the calm that emerges during the process often finds its way onto the canvas."

By using natural pigments and materials, her work exudes an earthy, minimalist feel. She draws inspiration from human interactions and emotions, which are reflected in flowing lines and organic forms. Annet experiments without fixed rules, allowing her style to evolve continuously. While she initially focused on drawing realistic portraits on paper, she has now embraced more abstract forms.

"I often start with certain shapes in mind, but once I begin, I let go of the plan and work entirely from my emotions. Throughout the process, I embrace chance and the spontaneity of the moment. There is beauty in imperfections, whether in a swift brushstroke, flowing ink, asymmetry, the texture of materials, or in a certain simplicity."

In addition to creating her own collections, Annet loves to make a custom artwork tailored to your needs.
